TEAM CHEVY IMPALA SS - INSIDE THE GARAGE AT POCONO RACEWAY– ALBA COLON, GM RACING NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES PROGRAM MANAGER: "Pocono is always a fun track and Chevrolet has enjoyed a lot of success there. The unique nature of the Pocono track, with three distinctive corners and three straights, including the long front straightaway, is always a challenge. While Team Chevy has celebrated many wins there, we are anxious to take our first one in the Impala SS race car. We have seen a lot of improvement in the new cars, and the hard work by our teams is certainly evident with our recent wins.
"The track configuration in itself requires heavier use of the brakes, putting extra wear on the brake components as well as on the engines, much like a road course does. Since we haven't been able to test this year, our GM Racing engineers have been working very closely with all our Chevy teams to maximize every component of the car to ensure reliability without sacrificing performance.
"There is always the need to continually improve and we have to keep working on technologies with our teams. Our focus every weekend is to be much better than the weekend before and to be the best in the field
"We are already half-way to the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and it has been a good season so far for Team Chevy. Our Impala SS drivers have scored six wins in 13 races, more than any other manufacturer and have led the most laps. But every weekend we face tougher competition and we can't rest on our success. We have to keep working hard and I welcome the challenge."
