JACK ROUSH FEATURED ON WENDY VENTURINI’S REAL DEAL:
Heading into Pocono with three of his drivers in the Top 12 of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings, team owner Jack Roush sat down for an exclusive interview with Wendy Venturini for her Real Deal segment on this weekend’s NASCAR RaceDay Built by The Home Depot (Sunday LIVE at 10:30 a.m. ET).
Here are a few exchanges from the interview:
Venturini: 13 races until the Chase. What are your expectations the rest of the way?
Roush: Well, my expectations are that the three of those guys (Kenseth, Biffle & Edwards) will all win more races and all move their way into the top half of the comfort zone of the Top 12 and that we’ll make a very effective challenge for the championship at the end of the year …. and I’ll be disappointed if we’re not able to make adjustments in the 26 and 6 programs and be able to see those in the Top 15 as well.
Venturini: I know you don’t like to talk about it, but is there any update on the status of having to go from five cars to four cars next year?
Roush: We’ve obviously fostered a very close relationship with Doug Yates and Robert Yates, initially through the engine shop and all, so they’re the heir apparent for whatever sponsorship that we would have that is something we can transfer and for whichever driver would be associated with that sponsor. It will wind up being more of a sponsor-driven thing than a team or driver thing. I love all my teams equally and I’ll have the same amount of tears for any one of them that we have to put off to another situation.
Also on NASCAR RaceDay, the SPEED team will listen in on the first weekend pairing of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and crew chief Lance McGrew, hearing live from Junior’s new pit boss.
Other Sunday guests will include NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship points leader Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, Casey Mears, Ryan Newman and Brian Vickers.
